ALLUVIUS is for metalheads, contemporary ballet nerds, and people who like awesome sh*t

August 21, 2025 – Ventana Ballet presents ALLUVIUS on September 18-27 at the brand spankin’ new East Side Performing Arts Center. This one casually brings together metalheads, thrashers, moshers, and also the lovers of contemporary dance and ballet. Featuring music by TOOL, Metallica, Korn, Disturbed, and the local ATX band, GOOD., the production of ALLUVIUS is a journey through the human experience, stripping the armor, & celebrating the raw truth.

ALLUVIUS is Ventana Ballet’s latest funky creation, directed & co-choreographed by the company’s founder, AJ Garcia-Rameau. Ty Graynor joins her on stage as a performer as well as in the co-choreography of this rockin’ masterpiece. Ventana Ballet’s newly appointed Assistant Director, Navaji David Nava, features his masterful graphic design and set design skills here, as well.

It was a Tuesday. ALLUVIUS first came to life in Summer 2024 when AJ & Ty were sharing some whiskey in the dance studio lobby after class and listening to TOOL. “The thing that connected us to the music was, well, the undeniable weirdness & the unfamiliar, but also the togetherness we felt in this genre of music (one that is widely unchartered in the choreographic realm),” explained Director, AJ Garcia-Rameau.

ALLUVIUS promises to take the audience on a journey through the familiar and the unfamiliar alike, with a little headbanging along the way. The show features 13 local performance artists, for 6 nights only.
