Austin’s newest professional ballet company debuts several new works of live music and dance. Ventana Ballet presents DISRUPT at the Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center on March 29 & 30, 2019.
DISRUPT will break the mold of traditional concert performance… aiming for aggressive, yet poised… daring, yet crisp… short, but high-energy performances featuring local professional artists in dance, choreography, music, and composition.
The show will premiere brand new dance choreography by AJ Garcia-Rameau, Dorothy O’Shea Overbey, and Erica Gionfriddo, accompanied by live musicians of cello, violin, and piano who will play works by Bach, Sollima, Fauré, and Vitali.
Upon arrival to the MACC, guests are offered cocktails, thanks to the generous sponsorship of Tito’s Handmade Vodka. Guests then will enter into the beautiful, yet unassuming auditorium space of the MACC. The show, whose runtime is only an hour, will send the audience through a whirlwind of classical and contemporary dance presentations. Guests are invited back into the main hall for a brief reception after the show to mingle with the artists. Join us for the evening.
Two shows: Friday March 29 at 8pm, and Saturday March 30 at 8pm (Doors open at 7:30pm both nights)
The Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center is located at 600 River Street, near Rainey.
